more moose, except this time i nearly ran over them when i was spraying!! they ran out of some trees and across the paddock in front of me. it was exciting!! and i just happen to have my camera with me, i have made a habit of taking it just about everywhere with me so i can catch that million dollar photo! we have harvested bout 1000 acres but it keeps raining every tuesday/ wednesday so we only get going on the weekends. today is just about the worst weather since i have been here. its about 10 degrees, over 60km an hour winds and raining steadily, yuk. so i have the day off and am bumming on internet and watching cnn's coverage of the hurricane down in the states, it is one heck of a mess down there. the mind boggles really. if you ask me living below sea level is just asking for trouble!! anyway godspeed daniel Posted by Picasa

well thats about all i have been doing, sorry about the order and the mess of this blogger, dont get much time to spend making it pretty! godspeed daniel Posted by Picasa

this is what i have been doin for the last couple of days, shifting dirt. i have been shifting topsoil away and replacing it with clay around the yard where he eventually hopes to build more silos. it pretty fun cause i have never done any earthmoving before. the 8850 has a tonne of horsepower and the tyres are full of fluid so you can drop the scraper right down and the tractor will just sit there spinning the tyres! Posted by Picasa

we have started doing a bit of harvesting with the old 8820 (its got 6000 hrs on the clock!). they had two but sold one and have bought a brand new 9760, mmmmm. it actually arrived on farm today after the dealer had some delays setting it up. i'll take a pic and post it next time. the peas arent a very good crop like maybe 1 tonne to the acre, which isnt very good they tell me. so there hasnt been much grain to shift yet.  Posted by Picasa

damn, did it again you will have to go down to the first post and read up for this to make sense! on sat after the football game we went to outlook near where angus is working to a small stock car speedway type thing. it was kool to see some crashes, cars go off the edge of the track and car parts flying around the track! thats about the extent of my last couple of weeks so hope every one is keeping well at home and keeping it real!! cheers daniel. Posted by Picasa
oops, pressed post before i needed to! anyway. angus and i went to the roughrider game last friday. it was great to see a game live. except they lost and that the game is so stop start. it took 3 hrs to play a 1 hr game, what the! the atmosphere was awesome, i think because there is less football being played the crowd gets into it more and more fun stuff goes on.  Posted by Picasa
well this is becoming frequent, but sorry for the lack of me putting stuff on here!! there hasnt been much happening work wise, just working on combines and machinery ready for harvest and some landscaping work around the sheds and silos. we are going to start desicating peas on monday so in another week to 10 days we will be into it and the barley will not be long after them. it has dried up quite a bit over the last month with no rain since the end of june. quite weird as it was raining every week for a while.  Posted by Picasa

i stayed with angus and his host family for last weekend and we found a wild moose kool hey!! he was quite big, the photo doesnt do him justice, he was quite a way away. My camera is fully zoomed in! Posted by Picasa

this is some of the cars angus and i went and watched the day after the football game last weekend. it was just a small dirt track in the middle of a paddock with 21 cars and plenty of dust, sideways action and bent panels!! Posted by Picasa

this is dave my host dad standing next to one of our real nice canola crops, as you can see its thick and impossible to walk through! Posted by Picasa

this is me in the malt (hopefully) barley crop a week ago, it has changed colour quite a bit in the last week. it is a pretty good crop so far, fingers crossed Posted by Picasa

the roughriders are in green, they lost though, as they have their last 3 games, their quarterback is hopeless! Posted by Picasa

this is at taylor field, where the saskatchewan roughriders play their home games, it holds about 30,000 people. we had a sweet seat right on the 50 yard line, could see everything! Posted by Picasa
