well the sunfure's transmission was going to cost 1900 dollars to fix, and the car is only worth that so i doesnt make much sense. so angus and i left it in edmonton and caught a bus back to our respective farms as there was much else we could do in edmonton. as it turns out i think the sunfire is going to get a second hand box, and at least come home. so thats the go at the moment. this time next week i will be flying back over the rockies on my way home! ttfn daniel

well as you can see from the photo we are without a car for a least a day as the transmission made a bad noise then decided not to drive anymore. so we are in edmonton for another night or two. the previous photo of me on the scooter was a few days ago when we were on vancouver island in victoria. from there we stayed a night in salmon arm, then banff, then hinton near jasper, now edmonton. looking at all the fun stuff along the way. the weather was not the best as you can tell from the photos but it was still sweet to see the mountains. ttfn daniel

well, no news hey! oh well, we finished harvest last wednesday, so we have been harrowing, and discing and cleaning combines and stuff since then. it has got quite cold, like down to -10 it was the heaviest, whitest frost i have ever seen. one day there i dont think it got above 0 cause i was discing around sloughs and they still were frozen on top. its good weather to be sitting in a tractor all day. patrick and i went to saskatoon last weekend, just to get away from the farm for a change. its duck hunting season here and there are lots of hunters around and they put on a dinner for all the people whose places they hunt on, and so we went to that tonight and ate duck! it tastes like chicken. this weekend is thanksgiving over here so tomorrow night is the traditional turkey etc, and family gatherings. well nearly time too come home only a month or so now, its gone quite fast! anyways bye for now, daniel

hello everybody, long time no news hey. well harvest is harvest as you can imagine, except when you have 5000 acres to do it doesnt really stop. we have been going on and of for over a month now with the last 2 or 3 weeks being the busiest. we have about 1500 acres to go, of canary, canola and flax. we have been real lucky in this part of canada cause only a couple of hours north has been having heaps of rain and not much harvesting has been done and now all the crops are downgraded and have started sprouting, not good. Here i have been still doing the odd bit of spraying, and apart from fixing the old 8820 i have been driving it a bit and have also done quite a few stints in the new combine. so quiet and smooth after driving the old girl. the weather here has cooled down a lot, we had a light frost this morning, yes frost and it is still summer here yet! with any luck the weather will stay fine and warm up a bit and we will finish harvest in a week or so and i can see some more of the country before i head home. not long now ! sorry no picture this time, i havent taken many exciting one of late. godspeed daniel

more moose, except this time i nearly ran over them when i was spraying!! they ran out of some trees and across the paddock in front of me. it was exciting!! and i just happen to have my camera with me, i have made a habit of taking it just about everywhere with me so i can catch that million dollar photo! we have harvested bout 1000 acres but it keeps raining every tuesday/ wednesday so we only get going on the weekends. today is just about the worst weather since i have been here. its about 10 degrees, over 60km an hour winds and raining steadily, yuk. so i have the day off and am bumming on internet and watching cnn's coverage of the hurricane down in the states, it is one heck of a mess down there. the mind boggles really. if you ask me living below sea level is just asking for trouble!! anyway godspeed daniel
